The four-time finalist will not be competing at this year's event, the tournament said in a statement. Her place will be taken by Magdalena Frech.

Aryna Sabalenka withdrew from the upcoming Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, the world number one and the tournament announced on Thursday.

Sabalenka joins Qinwen Zheng among the withdrawals from next week's WTA 500 in Stuttgart.

Magdalena Frech will take her place, the tournament said in a statement.

Sabalenka has never won the prestigious tournament in southern Germany, falling just short on four separate occasions, including in last year's final to Jelena Ostapenko.

"We wish our four-time finalist a speedy and full recovery and warmly welcome Magdalena to the main draw," the tournament said.

Sabalenka reveals injury

Sabalenka took to Instagram to post a statement regarding her withdrawal.

"I'm very sad to say that I won't be able to play the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix this year," Sabalenka posted.

"I always love coming back to Stuttgart. The atmosphere, the fans, and the support I feel there are so special to me. And of course, I was really hoping to have another chance to fight for that Porsche."

"Unfortunately, I suffered an injury after Miami, and even though I tried everything to recover in time, I'm not ready to compete. I'm really sorry to miss this amazing tournament. Wishing everyone a great week in Stuttgart, and I hope to see you all again very soon."
