Updated: Dec 27, 2022

The former world number six has also set out his retirement plans, suggesting he still hopes

to play the Paris Olympics in 2024.

Gael Monfils has suggested he is unlikely to return from injury in time for next month’s

Australian Open.

Monfils hasn’t played since the Canadian Open in August, due to foot and ankle issues.

The 36-year-old has also spoken about his future, amid rumours of a possible retirement.

He recognises 2023 is “an important year” as he tries to return from injury.

He is still hopeful of continuing to play until the Paris Olympics in 2024.

But he said the recent birth of his daughter may bring the curtain down on his career slightly earlier than previously thought.
