Williams suggested September’s US Open would be her last competitive singles match.
Serena Williams tweeted “game on” on Monday, sending Twitter fans into a frenzy over a
possible comeback.
It is the second time recently the 23-time-Slam winner has prompted such a response.
Last month Serena and her sister Venus were spotted on the practice court together, along
with Polish player Urszula Radwanska.
Venus Williams has already indicated she will play on in 2023.
Serena penned an article in Vogue in August, suggesting the upcoming US Open would be
her swansong.
