Following his defeat to Rublev at the ATP Finals, the world number said his opponent didn’t
have many weapons as a tennis player, making the defeat all the more painful.
Stefanos Tsitsipas has issued an apology to Andrey Rublev after she criticised the world No
8’s game.
Tsitsipas lost to Rublev at last month’s ATP Finals, and afterwards he lashed out, saying his
opponent won with the “few tools” he has.
Rublev was perplexed by the comment.
And now Tsitsipas has reflected, saying he said “the wrong thing.”
In making the post-match comments, where he also said the better player lost, Tsitsipas said
he was also trying to motivate Rublev to play better.
