Serving as the opener for the 2023 ATP Tour and the 2023 WTA Tour, it will be held from 29
December 2022 to 8 January 2023 at three venues in the Australian cities of Brisbane, Perth, and
Sydney.
The United Cup’s projected schedule has been released.
The inaugural event taking place in Brisbane, Perth and Sydney will see the WTA and ATP tours
coming together.
It will also be the first mixed-gender team event to offer both ATP and WTA rankings points.
The opening match in Sydney will see American Taylor Fritz play Jiri Lehecka of the Czech Republic.
Later on the same day Australia’s Nick Kyrgios will play Britain’s Cam Norrie.
Australia and Great Britain are joined by Spain in Group D, with all the matches taking place in
Australia’s largest city.
Rafael Nadal will play his first match against Cam Norrie on 31 December.
Italian Martina Trevisan and Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia get play underway at the Pat Rafter Arena
on the opening day in Brisbane. Italy and Brazil are joined by Norway in Group E.
Greece, Bulgaria and Belgium make up group A. Maria Sakkari’s eagerly anticipated match with Elise
Mertens will take place on 3 January in Perth.
The mixed doubles line ups have yet to be announced.
In all there are six groups, consisting of three nations each.
The 18-nation event gets underway on 29 December.
Both semi-finals and the final will take place in Sydney across two days.
