Wu frustrated by Zverev on court antics in Shanghai loss
Wu Yibing lost his first round match with Alexander Zverev 6-4 7-6. The Chinese player was not impressed with some of the German's actions during th match, saying "I don’t appreciate that kind of behaviour."

Wu Yibing expressed his frustration with Alexander Zverev after a 6-4,7-6 loss in the second round of the Shanghai masters.
Various incidents during the match appeared to agitate Wu, such as Zverev's tumbles to the ground, his tampering of the net and confronting the umpire about the lighting in the stadium.
The home player let his feelings known. "There were some little incidents during the match," Wu explained. "Falling down, complaining about the lights, messing with the net tape. I feel like some of that wasn’t necessary."
With Jannik Sinner ruled out of the remainder of the 2026 season, Alexander Zverev is assured world number one status come the end of the year.
But the 2026 season hasn't been all plain sailing for the German.
En route to the US Open title in September, Zverev caused a stir by his prolonged ball-bouncing motion ahead of serving, again accused of trying to disrupt his opponents' rhythm.
"Relatively speaking, it wasn’t such a 'pure' competition. Of course, he only did those things to break the rhythm and adjust his mode because i was putting the pressure on him."
"Even though i didn’t get distracted, personally, i just don’t appreciate that kind of behaviour," Wu added.
In this year's US Open, WU reached the third round, before losing to Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets. But Wu found the Spaniard an entirely different prospect when compared with Zverev.
"Without a doubt i enjoyed that match with Alcaraz more because it was a bigger challenge," Wu said in a thinly-veiled swipe at Zverev.
